Treatment of scoliosis by the Schroth method

50 min– 30 €

Idiopathic scoliosis is a curvature of the spine in three anatomical planes due to an unknown cause.

Schroth method is one of the most effective and scientifically based methods used for the treatment of scoliosis. This method applies asymmetric exercises to the concave and convex sides of the spine along with corrective breathing.

Signs of scoliosis - when the child bends down, uneven muscles in the waist area becomes evident, when the child stands, the rotation and tilting of the pelvis is visible. Advanced scoliosis is characterized by a rib hump appearing in the chest area.

The Schroth method is suitable for both children and adults.

The curvature of the spine varies with age, it is usually observed in children aged 4-8 years. It initially progresses 1-2° per year and worsens especially during puberty (girls - 11-12 years, boys - 13-14 years). Progression can reach up to 10° per year. It is important to start treatment as early as possible before puberty, when treatment goals can be achieved most effectively.

Treatment of scoliosis in Lithuania has not yet reached an effective level. General practitioners rarely notice a curved spine in a child. In many cases, scoliosis is noticed too late, when the structural changes of the spine have already occurred and it is difficult to correct it with simple efforts. Untreated scoliosis often progresses and may require surgery.

Conventional physiotherapy is also often prescribed for scoliosis, but it is not appropriate in case of scoliosis. Conventional physical therapy only further improves the crooked curves of the spine. In case of scoliosis, each curve of the spine needs to be worked on separately.

In case of progressive idiopathic scoliosis, the thorax deforms over time and organs of the thorax and abdomen becomes displaced. Functioning of the internal organs, especially the lungs and the heart, becomes more difficult. Scoliosis usually results in abnormal breathing pattern, bad posture, muscle fascia changes, muscle fiber fatigue, muscle imbalance, changes/differences in muscle strength, endurance and flexibility, pain. The quality of a person's life is affected and the problem of the aesthetic image becomes apparent.

Therefore, it is important to notice scoliosis as soon as possible and take effective measures to stop it.

Sports testing

Full functional examination

Dynamic assessment of movements, testing of muscle chains for the purpose of injury prevention and creation of an individual program – 70 €

Examination of functional human movements according to the complete Functional Movement system.

The examination consists of 4 parts:

  • FMS – assesses 7 basic functional human movements - stereotypes of the movements and their quality, control and integrity.
  • SFMA – This assessment is performed if movement dysfunction or pain is found during testing of the FMS part. The exact cause of movement dysfunction is determined: mobility, stability or movement control.
  • Y-BALANCE – assesses the dynamic stability of the upper and lower limbs and the symmetry of this stability – objectively determines the risk of injuries.
  • FCS - evaluates a person's physical capacity to perform a functional task and related physical characteristics: strength, speed, strength endurance, flexibility, balance, agility, coordination.

+ Conclusions and corrective recommendations are presented after the examination.

*Evaluation parts are selected based on the person's physical condition at the time of testing.

** The assessment is carried out if there is no damage of the musculoskeletal system – for physically healthy person.

Diagnostic muscle testing with TMG S2 system

Testing of one muscle pair or testing of the most important muscle groups for the sport. – 15 – 100 €

The tensiomyography method is patented and innovative method, based on more than 160 scientific studies. It is a functional muscle diagnostic system, which can be used to assess the type of muscle fibers, properties, tone, fatigue, spasticity, symmetry/asymmetry, minor muscle damage and atrophy of the muscle.

The person's physical fitness and muscle condition is assessed objectively by quantitative data. It helps to determine the effectiveness of training and rehabilitation process, injury risk, or athlete's readiness to return to the field. The process takes just a few seconds and is painless.

TMG provides:

For the coach:

  • Shows which muscles are too slow, too weak or too tight.
  • Assesses which muscles are fatigued and overloaded.
  • Injury prevention by finding a weak muscle in the muscle chain.
  • Differentiation of the athletes – determines whether the athlete is prone to speed.
  • An excellent tool for evaluating the effectiveness of a training period. The weak muscle groups are identified and the effectiveness of the training period is evaluated while fixing these weaknesses.

For the physiotherapist:

  • Shows how the damaged muscle has functionally recovered. For example, if the ultrasound shows that the muscle is structurally healthy, TMG can tell if the function is also the same as that of a healthy muscle.
  • Determines whether it is safe for the athlete to return to the field after an injury.
  • Rehabilitation monitoring – assesses whether the rehabilitation is proceeded properly and the muscle properties are being restored.

After the testing, PDF reports are automatically generated with recommendations on how to continue working with the athlete.

Manual therapy

Maitland mobilization

25 – 35 €

Objective tests are used to decide which manual therapy technique to apply, as well as evaluate its effectiveness and adjust the treatment plan if necessary. Maitland's concept can be applied to both limb and spine joints.

During mobilization, the general movement of the joint is restored, the sliding of the joint surfaces relative to each other is normalized, and normal, painless movement is restored.

In this technique, the speed of the movement and where it will be performed in the range of motion is important. Depending on whether you want to eliminate pain and irritation or increase the range of motion by stretching the joint capsule and surrounding tissues, the specialist selects the appropriate movement rhythm.

During mobilization, the general movement of the joint is restored, the sliding of the joint surfaces relative to each other is normalized, and normal, painless movement is restored.

Applying this type of mobilization:

  • Relieves pain and irritation of various origins
  • Decreases muscle tension
  • Restores joint function
  • Restores joint mobility

The most common indications:

  • Neck pain
  • Pain in the chest area
  • Back pain
  • Neurodynamic disorders
  • Arthritis (e.g. hip, knee, spine)
  • Headache
  • Temporomandibular joint pain
  • Pain of the knee joint
  • Pain of the elbow joint
  • Foot pain
  • Conditions after hand and finger fractures
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

Mulligan joint mobilization

25 – 35 €

Mulligan joint mobilization is a part of manual therapy aimed at restoring pain-free, normal movement stereotype and full range of motion. Appropriate mobilization forces relieve patient's pain, reduce limitation or functional loss.

Mulligan Concept technique involves joint mobilization or gliding. When one or more similar symptoms are identified, which may include loss of joint motion, pain associated with movement, or with specific functional activities, the physical therapist applies passive mobilization of the joint, which is maintained throughout active movement. Then, if the joint is pain-free, the patient actively moves it through previously restricted and/or painful range of motion while the therapist continues to maintain adequate mobilization. After this technique, the pain decreases and the range of motion increases.

Advantages of the Mulligan joint mobilization:

  • Performed only in vertical position
  • Mobilization includes a combination of passive and active movements
  • This method suits perfectly for all joints as the treatment plane runs parallel or perpendicular to the plane of the joint
  • May reduce soft tissue inflammation, promote relaxation and improve function
  • Effectively eliminates pain and has a long-lasting effect

  • Various pain of mechanical origin in the spine and the joints
  • Acute pain with limited movements
  • Acute movement disorders
  • Post-surgery condition with remaining limited mobility
  • Cervicogenic headaches and/or dizziness
  • Movement limitation of the temporomandibular joint
  • Tennis elbow pain

Stecco manual fascia therapy

25 – 35 €

STECCO manual fascia therapy is a special manual therapy method that aims to evaluate the effect of deep fascia on the occurrence of the musculoskeletal system diseases. In this method, the relation between fascia and muscle is imagined as a three-dimensional system in which there is a continuous interdependence.

The role of the fascia: according to Stecco's theory, the body is made up of 14 segments: head, neck, thorax, waist, pelvis, skull, humerus, elbow, wrist, fingers, hip, knee, ankle and foot. Each body segment is served by six myofascial units (mf units), consisting of monoarticular and biarticular unidirectional muscle fibers, their deep fascia, and an articulation that moves in one direction in one plane. Because fascia is made up of several layers and is richly innervated, its state of tension is maintained by the tone of the muscles woven into it.
This tension allows receptors in nerve endings and fascial tissue to respond to all body movements and regulate tissue tension. When damaged, the fascia no longer slides, does not stretch properly, and fibrosis localizes at intersecting points of tension, called coordination centers and fusion centers.
In this way, the dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system develops
– the sliding and movement of the organs is restricted, which causes pain in various parts of the body.

Advantages of STECCO therapy:

  • Allows to eliminate various disorders of the fascia, including disorders of the internal organs
  • The therapist takes advantage of the rich innervation of the fascia and thus creates a treatment based on the biomechanical principles of this tissue
  • Special diagnostics helps to identify specific areas of the fascia where movement restriction is felt
  • This ensures the examination of certain parts of the body and the identification of the painful area
  • Relieves pain and restores proper range of motion.
  • A precise method that can replace several treatments

  • Post-operative and post-traumatic disorders associated with the presence of scars, adhesions
  • Headaches and migraine
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Lower back pain
  • Dysfunction of the sacrum and pelvis
  • Sutrikimai ir skausmai krūtininėje ir kaklinėje stuburo srityse
  • Neurological disorders
  • Temporomandibular disorder
  • Myofascial disorders of various parts of the body
  • Tunnel syndrome and consequences of complex sports injuries

Physical modalities

INDIBA therapy

Depends on the protocols provided by the manufacturer. From 25 €

INDIBA® ACTIV therapy is a therapy that stimulates natural regeneration mechanisms of the tissues.

Unique INDIBA® ACTIV therapy is mentioned in more than 300 scientific articles proving the effectiveness and safety of this therapy method and the 448 kHz frequency transmitted by the applicators. During the 35 years of the company's existence, it was found out that the 448 kHz frequency is the most effective and safest to use: positive effects on blood circulation, cell activity, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects have been confirmed.

448 kHz frequency energy causes intense heat, which penetrates the skin and affects the deeper layer of the skin, the dermis, causing the collagen network in it to contract. Altered collagen activates fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen that gives skin firmness. Due to the thermal effect, the permeability of cell membranes improves, active substances are better absorbed, blood circulation improves, muscle relaxation is promoted, soft and hard tissue regeneration improves, and pain is reduced.

The 448 kHz frequency used by INDIBA devices provides:

1. Biostimulating effect.

Scientific research has shown that it is the frequency of 448 kHz that promotes the permeability of cell membranes. This accelerates intracellular and extracellular metabolism and tissue regeneration.

2. Activation of microcirculation.

When microcirculation accelerates, all substances necessary for tissue regeneration are transported faster and cells are better supplied with oxygen.

3. Hyperactivation and diathermy of the cells.

Hyperthermia causes an acceleration of cell metabolism and tissue restructuring, thus a natural tissue fight against fibrosis occurs. Such tissue reorganization can be induced even in chronic lesions where fibrosis is already present.

Advantages of INDIBA® ACTIV therapy:

It is a safe, non-invasive, painless procedure with no side effects. Suitable for use even if you have cancer cells.
The advantages of 448kHz frequency therapy compared to other alternative types of therapy: the effect is felt especially quickly (after the first procedure) and the recovery period is significantly shorter. INDIBA® ACTIV therapy has a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. This therapy method can be applied both during the chronic and acute phase.

  • Traumatic lesions: direct and indirect injuries, bruises, sprains, fractures, postoperative period.
  • Sports physiotherapy: muscle relaxation, preparation for exercise, injury prevention, reduction of muscle fatigue, direct and indirect injuries.
  • Damage of the joints: chronic tendinopathy, hematoma, osteoarthritis, bursitis, capsulitis, tendonitis.
  • Rheumatic diseases: back pain, chondromalacia, osteoarthritis, arthritis, cervicalgia.
  • Physio-aesthetics reduces cellulite marks, firms the skin, shapes the body; accelerates healing after operations, treats scars, stretch marks, acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, facial redness, reduces the likelihood of complications.

Benefits of the procedure

  • Relaxes muscles, decreases pain and swelling of the muscles.
  • Improves function and mobility of muscles, tendons and ligaments.
  • Stimulates natural regeneration of soft and hard tissues.
  • Suppresses inflammatory processes of the tissues and helps to recover after fractures, injuries, etc.
  • Activates blood circulation and increases tissue supply with oxygen and nutrients.
  • Treatment with the INDIBA® ACTIV device can be applied both in the chronic and acute phase.
  • Easier, freer and painless movement.
  • The procedure is safe, effective, fast and does not cause side effects.

Ultrasound therapy

10 €

Ultrasound is a mechanical wave, which energy is transmitted to biological tissues through the vibration of molecules.

Ultrasound is classified as a deep heating physical modality and is used to increase tissue temperature. The biggest advantage of ultrasound compared to conduction-based physical modalities is greater penetration depth.

Ultrasound therapy

The most commonly used ultrasound frequency in therapy is between 1 MHz and 3 MHz. Physiological and therapeutic effects of US are determined by endogenous heat and non-thermal component. The mechanical wave vibrates the tissues and accumulates heat in them, thus causing the physiological changes that are typical for massage. A 1°C increase in tissue temperature promotes metabolism and healing. An increase of 2-3°C reduces pain and muscle spasm, while an increase of 4°C increases collagen elasticity and reduces joint stiffness.

  • Myofascial pain syndrome and trigger points
  • Back pain and dysfunction
  • Pain and dysfunction caused by the carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Dysfunction that is caused by non-specific shoulder joint conditions
  • Calcific tendinitis

Benefits of the procedure

  • Therapeutic ultrasound by thermal and non-thermal biophysiological effect can cause clinically effective responses in cells, tissues and organs.
  • Endogenous heat generated in tissues due to the effect of ultrasound accumulates in a limited
  • area, but the accelerated blood flow carries the heat through the surrounding tissues and throughout the whole
  • body.
  • Cavitation and heat stimulate metabolic processes of cells and tissues, healing,
  • formation of fibroblasts and transmission of the nerve impulse.
  • Microcirculation accelerates, thus an additional amount of oxygen enters the tissues and
  • metabolic processes of the tissues, regeneration and healing are activated.
  • Collagen elasticity (in the tendons and joint capsules) increases.
  • Flexibility of the joints increases.
  • Muscle spasms are reduced.
  • Pain decreases.
  • Blood circulation is activated.
  • Chronic and subacute inflammation is suppressed.
  • The elasticity of the connective tissue is increased.

    Intermittent compression therapy

    30 min – 12 €

Compression therapy, also known as lymphatic drainage massage, is a painless procedure performed with the Aerify machine. The machine creates vibrating pressure waves, activates lymph circulation in a certain area (usually the legs and abdomen) and pushes the lymph into the large lymphatic vessels and blood vessels. It shapes the body, reduces cellulite and swelling, improves blood circulation and promotes fluid removal from the body.

    Indications for compression therapy:

    • Recovery after physical load
    • Activation of the lymphatic system
    • Cellulite, a thick layer of body fat

    Intermittent cooling compression therapy

    30 min– 20 €

Intermittent cryocompression therapy (cold + alternating pressure) offers many benefits for those who want to recover quickly from injuries or reduce general tension and fatigue after intensive physical activity and training.

     Advantages of intermittent cryocompression therapy:

    • Relieves inflammation
    • Shorter recovery time and less muscle damage
    • Faster muscle relaxation
    • Faster healing of the muscles and soft tissues
    • Prevention of the further damage

    (TENS, RES) – 12 €

Electrotherapy applies the exposure of an electric current to the joints, muscles and other soft tissues through the skin. It is one of the most effective methods of physical modalities to relieve acute and chronic pain (TENS) and perform functional neuromuscular stimulation (FES).

Functional electrostimulation (FES) is a method which applies pulsed electric current in order to restore the normal functional state of tissues. Stimulated tissues become active and muscles contract. Stimulating the neuromuscular connection promotes the healing of the damaged nerve, activates metabolic processes in the muscles, blood flow intensifies, tissue nutrition improves, and muscles, which were weakened by illness or injury, become stronger.

Muscle electrostimulation (FES) is applied in order to increase muscle strength and muscular endurance, promote metabolism, relieve pain, etc. It is used to treat connective tissue, musculoskeletal system and neurological diseases, etc.

Pulsed electric current therapy (TENS) – transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. It is a treatment with short pulses of monopolar or bipolar pulsed electric current. During treatment, a low-frequency pulsed electric current is used. This procedure reduces pain, suppresses inflammation, improves blood circulation, and reduces muscle spasms.

TENS therapy is applied: for the treatment of inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the peripheral nervous system, musculoskeletal system, peripheral blood circulation disorders and injuries (neuritis, neuralgia, radiculopathy, polyneuropathy, osteochondrosis, arthrosis, ligament sprains, etc.).

    By this method:

    • Pain is relieved
    • Inflammation (of the joints, soft tissues) is relieved
    • Muscle strength increases
    • Muscle endurance increases
    • Damaged nerve tissue is stimulated and activated

    Kinesio taping

    With physiotherapist's tape – 10 €
    When buying tape from a physiotherapist – 12 €

Kinesio taping is an effective way to relieve pain caused by injuries, muscle fatigue, pain of neurological origin or other reasons. Kinesio taping, unlike athletic taping, does not restrict person's movements.

At INNOVAMED physiotherapy studio we use Rock-Tape. It is the world's top rated kinesio tape which is used by over 50,000 athletes. RockTape is stiffer, stickier, stronger and more resistant than conventional tapes and it is specially designed with high resistance to water.

    Athletic taping

    One area – 10

Athletic taping is taping with adhesive tape according to special techniques, which fixates the joint in the desired position in order to reduce mobility and provide additional reinforcement in case of joint instability. It is one of the most effective external aids to protect against repeated injuries, which facilitates and accelerates the athlete's return to active sports activities and provides a sense of stability during movement.
In sports, taping is used as a primary preventive measure to avoid new injuries.

The main purpose of athletic taping is to support anatomical structures and serve as a splint, protecting the already injured part of the musculoskeletal system from re-injury. Research has shown that athletic taping reduces the likelihood of repetitive injuries.
Athletic taping is not only a preventive and rehabilitative tool, it is also a first-aid method and it even works as a certain psychological tool for the athletes.

Lymphatic drainage massage to treat lymphedema

    Only a massage – 30 min – 25
Massage + bandaging with foam rubber and elastic bandages (tools are not included) 45 - 60 min – 35€

Lymphedema is a disorder of lymphatic circulation, which causes the stasis of lymph in the damaged tissues. It is a chronic, life-long disease that causes inflammation, structural changes in the subcutaneous tissue, and degenerative changes of the skin. Due to the increased amount of lymph, lymphedema manifests itself by swelling of the face, neck, arms, trunk or legs.
There may be a feeling of tightness, restriction of movement, and an increased risk of anxiety and depression.

Lymphatic drainage massage is very different from a regular massage. This massage is performed slowly and gently, with light, rhythmic stretching movements that stimulate lymphatic vessels and lymph, which is directed in the direction of other regions. During the massage, the lymphatic vessels are opened, and the flow of lymph and tissue fluid through them is also stimulated.

Excellent results are achieved by the massage: activity of the lymphatic system is normalized, toxins are removed from the body, limb swelling is reduced, and skin elasticity is restored.
At the same time, pain is reduced and relaxation is promoted.

    It is useful if:

    • Fatigue and swelling of the legs is felt
    • You suffer from leg cramps and prolonged pain
    • A small network of veins or dilated veins are visible
    • Skin changes, such as scarring and thickening of the skin (fibrosis) are visible
    • The pain increases when pressing the calf muscles, pressing on the sole of the foot or bending the foot
    • The affected leg is of blue or purple color
    • The affected limb is hotter
    • A feeling of heaviness or tightness
    • Limited range of motion

Massage with instrumental soft tissue mobilization

    35 min– 30 €

IASTM (Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization) is a myofascial intervention used to treat soft tissues and which involves the use of specialized tools to manipulate the skin,
myofascia, muscles and tendons using a variety of direct compression techniques.

IASTM applies instruments that are typically made of stainless steel with beveled edges and contours that can adapt to different anatomical areas of the body and ensures a deeper penetration, which means greater direct impact on muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons.

IASTM is not performed alone and is therefore combined with massage to enhance tissue remodeling. During the massage, if necessary,
a physiotherapist uses the IASTM tool instead of hands to achieve a stronger and better effect.

By using different tools and pressure, the specialist can focus on different tissue during the treatment. The beveled surface of the tool can specifically pull, stretch and loosen
    the fascial tissues.

Such a targeted treatment method has many advantages:

    •  Faster pain relief
    • Improved mobility
    • Improved range of motion
    • Decreased tightness
    • Faster rehabilitation and recovery after injury.

Conditions, which can be treated with ISATM, includes:

    • Scars
    • Forms of tendinitis or tendinopathy, including Achilles tendinitis and tennis elbow
    • Muscle and ligament sprains
    • Neck pain
    • Back pain
    • Muscle imbalance

    Massage with vacuum cup therapy

    35 min – 30 €

During a cupping massage, cups are placed on the skin. Their suction effect has a positive effect for the skin, improves blood circulation and functionality in the area where the cups are placed, promotes healing and reduces muscle tension and tissue swelling.

This procedure is especially effective for reducing muscle and joint pain and restoring athletes after intense physical load. In addition, this type of therapy helps formation of the new connective tissue and blood vessels in the tissue. Muscle contraction and tone, oxygen supply to cells increases. The elimination of toxins and metabolic waste is accelerated.

During this procedure, lymph circulation is activated and microcirculation of the skin and subcutaneous tissue is stimulated. Due to better oxygen supply, the tissues become softer and the deeper layers of the skin are nourished. The skin becomes more elastic and smooth.

Art therapy is a method of artistic expression and a direction of psychotherapeutic effect, in which a person expresses his/her inner world and emotions through the means of art, thus creating a space for a mental health improvement.

Art therapy is based on the idea that the creative process is a healing, non-verbal way of communicating feelings and thoughts.

Art therapy is used as a mean of a personal expression that does not aim for an aesthetic, stereotypical product that would be judged according to the standards of traditional art. During art therapy, it is not necessary to know how to draw, what is important is the creative process itself.
